Happy New Year…

…and welcome to our 2025 annual review!

Did we reach our goals? How much money did we make?

We’ll tell you everything!

Context

We are a two-person data visualization studio with no intention to grow bigger. We want to stay small, flexible, and as free as possible.

Our goal is to simplify your data visualization workflow.
To do that, we focus on three different areas:

  • Product: We develop tools primarily for Tableau users.

  • Consulting: We help clients with data visualization projects.

  • Content: We primarily share via this newsletter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

Goals and moves

When we started 2025, our main goal was… to make it to the end.

We knew it would be a difficult year. Work was secondary as we had many personal changes to tackle.

The good news is that both of our personal goals for the year are completed!

  • πŸ‡«πŸ‡· We spent a big part of the year in Bretagne (a region of France) renovating an old house. We redid everything from the floor to the ceiling, demolishing walls and installing our dream kitchen. It took us almost the entire year to complete, but the house is now completely livable! This is primarily my father's house, and where we will spend most of our summers.

  • πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ We moved to Spain! After selling our apartment in Rotterdam, we searched and found our new home in Valencia. We moved our stuff at the end of November, but we really started living here last week! Part of this also involved creating a new company in Spain and transferring all our work and clients.

As you can imagine, it was difficult to maintain a consistent routine and stay on track with our work, but we managed to release a few new products and continue our client work.

Let’s see how we performed in our different areas.

Products

New products and updates

Since 2023, our long-term goal has been to increase the revenue from our product. Consulting is great, and we enjoy working with our clients, but the revenue there is tied to our time, which brings risks and constraints.

In 2025, we continued to improve our main product: Viz Extensions. We made significant improvements, changes, and new releases:

  • Four new extensions: Sankey (Draggable), KPI Card, Globe Path, and Line.

  • The release of Free Trusted Extensions for Tableau Public (we are the only Tableau partner with trusted extensions at this point!)

  • Many updates and new features in existing extensions (define default color for the charts in the trex file, better color picker, grid lines and zero line, better handling of the date format for axes, use pixels or points for the size font, custom color palettes detected automatically from the Preferences.tps file for Enterprise customers,…)

But Viz Extensions is not all we do! We also released other cool stuff:

  • Custom Theme Generator: a free tool that leverages the new Custom Theme feature and lets you build your theme visually.

  • LaDataViz Pro: a new, simple offering that gives you access to all our products in one single subscription.

  • New features on Figma to Tableau: you can now configure the extension to export different types of charts in Tableau, and you can also copy existing dashboards’ actions if you import an existing dashboard

  • We designed the tools section on our website

Revenue

In 2023, our product revenue was 3,478€ (2% of our total revenue)
In 2024, our product revenue was 39,596€ (14% of our total revenue)
In 2025, our product revenue was 78,939€ (29% of our total revenue) πŸ“ˆ

Our average monthly revenue from productsΒ increased toΒ 6 578€.

So overall, we have doubled our product revenue compared to 2024, which is great!

May remains our best month largely due to theΒ Tableau ConferenceΒ and the visibility we have there (our talks and the shoutout we received again during DevsOnStage).

Compared to 2024, Viz Extensions became our main revenue driver in 2025 (54% of revenue), followed by the Pro license (21%) and the plugin (20%).

We feel good about this:

  • We have two main products (the extensions and Figma plugin, packaged together in the Pro license) that we are known for. These are subscription-based, generating recurring revenue.

  • We have two one-time-fee products (BANg and Filter Manager) that solve a clear pain point for Tableau users and are affordable.

  • We have three high-value and free products (Trusted Extensions, AdvViz, Custom Theme Generator) that bring a lot of eyes to what we do.

Let’s discuss next week what our plan is for products in 2026.
Meanwhile, let’s talk about our consulting side.

Consulting

In 2025, we continued to work with our existing clients and added a few new ones.

In 2024, we worked 262 days for clients
In 2025, we worked around 216 days for clients.

We worked with 12 different clients (six new and six recurring).

Here’s the number of days we worked for clients in 2025 (bar), compared to 2024 (line).

With everything going on and our different moves, it's no surprise that we worked a bit less on consulting this year. However, consulting continues to bring the majority of the revenue.

There is not much to add to this. Since consulting is based on selling our time, the less time we have, the less we earn.

We continue to enjoy working with clients, and it’s what keeps us having new product ideas. If you are using Tableau every day, you will find things to improve!

Ok, let’s focus on the last area, content!

Content

This is the part that suffered the most from our being so busy throughout the year.

YouTube-wise, it’s simple: zero new videos. We never had the time or resources to produce a decent video.

Newsletter

In 2024, we sentΒ 30Β newsletters and reachedΒ 2238 subscribers.
In 2025, we sent 19 newsletters and reached 3090 subscribers.
If you are reading this, you are one of them; thank you!

That’s an increase of 852 subscribers compared to 2024 (more or less the same increase as the previous year).

We were not as consistent as in 2024, but again, it was expected.
We feel this is still the best way to share updates!

In addition to the newsletter, we talked at events such as the Tableau Conference, DataFam Europe, and other User groups. This is always a great opportunity to share what we do with a live audience. If you are a TUG organizer, we’d be happy to speak!

Let’s talk πŸ’°

Let’s wrap this wrap-up with our 2025 revenue and expenses.
