New Viz Extension: Drill Down Filter

Who said a Viz Extension has to be a viz?

Hi!

Another week, another extension!
I didn’t lie when I said we worked on many things to share 😉

Today, we are happy to release the Drill Down Filter Extension:

This time, we are not creating any new fancy charts, but we are focusing on a significant request in the Tableau Community: have efficient drill-down filters.

People like Rosario Gauna have been trying to solve this issue with Parameter Actions and a good dose of magic 🪄. She created publicly available Tableau Dashboards so you could see how it’s done and replicate it. https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/rgauna/viz/HierarchyUXFilterUIStyles/HierarchyUXFilterUI

Today, you can create a Drill Down Extension with Viz Extensions in less than a minute.

All you have to do is select the Drill Down Filter extension and drag and drop your Dimensions in Detail:

As always you can click “Format Extension” and configure the drill down menu.

Once in your dashboard, the drill-down filter acts like any other worksheet. Create a Filter Action with the worksheet as a source, and configure it to run on Select and Exclude all values on clearing.

Combined with the Figma to Tableau Plugin, this extension allows you to create a beautiful and user-friendly Dashboard.

As for the Polar Extension last week, if you already purchased the Viz Extension Pack, you can download it and start using it today! If not, you can visit our store. The Drill Down Extension is $25, and the pack for all twelve extensions is $150.

A demo version is available on Tableau Exchange if you want to try it. This version allows you to try the extension with a maximum of ten elements in the drill down.

In the future, we will explore new ways to use the power of Viz Extensions to help you build even better UI elements, such as a navigation menu or simple buttons to perform actions.

That is it for today!

Next week, we might have yet another Extension for you… but our first Dashboard Extension! Stay tuned!
