New Viz Extension: Polar Area Chart!

Plus Enhanced Figma Plugin Features

Hi!

We are back (a bit later than planned, but back)!

We took some time to prepare and release new stuff for you! Hopefully, we’ll have a lot to share in the coming weeks. 🚀

Today’s big news is the release of a new Viz Extension: Polar Area Chart 🏵️ (also known as Coxcomb or Nightingale Rose). This allows you to recreate the famous Nightingale chart “Causes of Mortality in the Army in the East” in Tableau in just three drag-and-drops!

The second important update is a price change regarding the Viz Extensions.

  • An individual extension will cost $25

  • The pack will cost $150 (the pack gives you access to all Extensions, eleven available now and all future ones).

The license is still per creator and gives you lifetime access.
The prices will be updated on Monday 16th of September.

Finally, we have updates about the Figma to Tableau plugin, including two highly requested features.

Figma to Tableau updates

We were able to release two significant updates to the plugin that will make exporting your Figma design to Tableau even easier:

  •  Absolute position: Nodes with Absolute position can now be exported when the "Tiled / Containers" option is selected. The nodes are added to your dashboard as a floating object!

For the plugin to convert your Figma frames to Tableau containers, you need to use Auto-Layout. However, just as in Tableau, you sometimes need to add a floating element at a specific position in your design using Absolute position. You can now create and export these hybrid desgins in Tableau in one click!

  • Multiple-Style Text Node: You can now create a single text node with multiple styles (font, color, weight, size, etc.), and it will be exported as a single text object with the different styles in Tableau!

We will continue to improve the plugin, and hopefully, these two additions will already save you even more time!

Polar Area Chart

The new Polar Area Viz Extension is available on our store and soon on Tableau Exchange for you to try (Wilson, if you read this, we are just waiting for your approval 🙏)

For those with the Viz Extension Pack, you can download the Trex file with your license from https://extensions.ladataviz.com/get and start using it now!

As always, we added many configuration options, such as stacking the marks or not, adding a Target, rotating the chart, etc…

People who visualize sports data appreciate the Polar Area Chart very much! Hopefully, you’ll have a lot of fun trying it!

As you know, Viz Extensions are still not availble on Tableau Public. If you want to create this type of chart on Tableau Public, check out CJ’s great blog post: https://cj-mayes.com/2024/09/01/radial-charts-in-tableau/

Next week, we’ll be back with yet another Viz Extension!

That is it for today!

A big welcome to everyone who joined recently 👋
