Did We Ghost You?
Kind of... but we're back! New extensions and personal news!
Well, this is embarrassing.
It has been two months with no news, but we are finally back to an environment and pace that allows me to write to you again! Thank you to everyone who reached out, making sure we were okay!
So, what happened?
Even if we had many things worth sharing, life simply got in the way.
Between increased client work, speaking engagements, one month of intense renovation, putting our apartment up for sale, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and the adrenaline rush from the Tableau conference crashing down, something had to give.
But we’ve missed writing to you. And now that the dust (literally) is starting to settle, we’re excited to get back to it!
So, now that we’re back, let me recap all the things you missed!
Viz Extensions (Tableau Public, Globe, GPT,..)
Viz Extensions remains our primary focus when developing. The KPI Card is almost ready to be launched, but it will get its own newsletter post.
Meanwhile, here are some new things you might have missed:
Globe Paths
We started working on an extension for a client to help them visualize flight paths on a 3D interactive globe.

It is our first extension focused on maps, and it may open the door to more map-focused extensions in the future.
This extension will be available in our store soon, so stay tuned!
Tableau Public
Our Viz Extensions will be available very soon in Tableau Public!
We went through the new process of creating “Trusted Extension”. These will be hosted directly by Tableau.
Our goal has always been the same: to make all our extensions available for free to Tableau Public users.
Unfortunately, for this first release, we had to restrict usage, and all advanced formatting options will be available for testing, but cannot be saved. This is because at the moment we have no way of knowing if the extension is used in Tableau Public or Desktop / Cloud / Server.
Tableau is very aware of this, and before the end of the year, we should be able to make the difference and give the full power of the viz extensions to Public users.
AI + Tableau
I got the opportunity to give a longer presentation about our experiment combining Tableau and OpenAI API at the AI + Tableau User Group.
Here’s the recording.
Let us know if this is something you’d like us to focus on!
Enterprise sale
We have finally completed all the steps to finalize some sales of the Enterprise version of Viz Extensions. We added some nice new features, such as detecting a custom color palette from the Preferences.tps file.
This also added some workload, but it was well worth it!
Our Viz Extensions are available as an offline package, completely disconnected from the internet and secure. You can host them anywhere to ensure 100% compliance with your IT infrastructure!
Other updates
DataDev Day
Jessica did her first solo presentation during the last DataDev day. The recordings are not available yet, but as soon as they become available, we’ll share them with you.
Datafam TUG
Right after the Tableau Conference, I delivered the talk again at the DataFam User Group. You can watch the recording here:
French TUG
For the French-speaking readers, Maxime, Simon, and I shared our post-conference feedback during the French TUG. The recording is also available:
Leaving the Netherlands and renovation
This personal update is the main reason for our silence.
And since a few of you have asked, here’s how things are going!
Right after San Diego, we started preparing our apartment for sale. It’s now official: we are leaving the Netherlands on August 10th. First stop: France to finish the renovation!
Speaking of renovation, during March and May/June, we spent most of our time in France, splitting our time between work and renovation. Things are going well, and here’s the before/after of the kitchen!

With the bedrooms and kitchen ready, we can move in!
The next few weeks will be calmer as we pack and prepare to move, allowing us to return to our regular newsletter rhythm.
We are also very close to our next product release, so stay tuned!
