We're back with a brand new Viz Extension: Calendar!
Order dates, deliveries, contract renewals, deadlines: your business data is full of dates. Showing them on a real calendar in Tableau usually means date calculations, a grid of sheets, and a lot of patience.
Yes, you surely already have Outlook or Google Calendar for your meetings. But the dates that matter for your business live in your data, not in your inbox.
Calendar puts them in your dashboard, by year, month, or week, right next to the rest of your data. And it's not just a picture: click a day or a whole month to filter the rest of your dashboard.
How it works
Drop a date on Start Time. That's it.
Add an End Time if needed, a Dimension on Type to color your events, and one on Text to label them. Anything on Detail or Tooltip shows up when you hover over an event.
Then your users pick how they read it:
Year: the whole year at a glance, busy weeks and quiet ones stand out
Month: every event, day by day
Week: hour by hour, with a line at the current time
Make it yours
Each view has its own styles, so the calendar fits your dashboard instead of the other way around.
Styles: 6 looks for the Year, 6 for the Month (Classic grid, Cards, Widget, Framed table…), 4 event styles for the Week
Colors: accent, text, grid, cells, empty days, and the now line, the same everywhere or different for each view
Your week: start on Monday, Saturday or Sunday (or let your users choose), pick your weekend days and their color, 12h or 24h time
Opens on: today, the next event, the first or last event, or a date you pick
Views: let your users switch between Year, Month and Week, or fix one view
Selection: click a day or a whole month to select its events and drive your dashboard actions
It speaks your language!
Month and day names follow each viewer's Tableau language. Build your dashboard once: your team in Madrid reads "octubre", your team in Paris reads "octobre", your team in Tokyo reads "10月". Nothing to translate, nothing to set up.
